Requirement

Florida law requires Level 2 background screening for people who render care under CDC+ (including relatives) and for many APD-related roles. Screening must be complete before direct care begins (orientation-only exceptions are limited — follow current statute and APD guidance).

Practical steps (high level)

  1. Employer/consumer registers / initiates screening in the Clearinghouse as instructed by APD materials.
  2. Candidate completes forms and Livescan fingerprints at an approved vendor.
  3. Wait for eligibility result; keep documentation for program monitoring periods.
  4. Plan for rescreening timelines as required.

Cost

Screening expenses are typically the provider/worker’s responsibility. CDC+ program materials state funds generally cannot be used to pay for screening.
